Global Leadership Institute - West Africa

In 2009, the Global Leadership Institute was launched in Sierra Leone to train pastors in West Africa. This three year program teaches Biblical foundations and ministry & leadership skills. Pastors gather together for two weeks of training each year for three years. Our purpose is to foster a church planting movement across West and North Africa by equipping and mobilizing pastors to plant multiple churches in villages, neighborhoods, and cities where no church exists. Each year, 25 pastors enter the program. We began in 2009 with pastors from three nations in West Africa: Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Ivory Coast.
The Global Leadership Institute (GLI) was founded by our pastor, Dr. John Thompson at the invitation of an apostolic leader, Pastor Gregory Bangura of Rabboni Missions International. Rev. Bangura is our host and West Africa Director for the institute. Pastor Brian Main from Cross Point Bible Fellowship in Vienna, Ohio and Pastor Arlie Whitlow from Victory's Crossing Church from Manassas, Virginia are serving on the creation and implimentation team with Dr. Thompson and Rev. Bangura. Out of the first class of pastors in 2009, three participants were selected to become teachers next year to assist Rev. Bangura in training the next cohort of students. By 2012, we plan for the institute to be fully led by West African pastors.
